Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Downtown/The Gateway

Excellent place to stay Downtown. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, venues, etc. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The employees are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. Great place!

Comfortable, clean, and felt safe the entire stay. The room smelled great when we walked in, was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel itself is well kept and quiet. A couple of quirks: the TVs are still on DirecTV with no streaming or casting options (felt a bit like a time capsule), and surprisingly there are no safes in the guest rooms. On the upside, the parking lot just outside the back door is well lit, felt very secure, and costs a reasonable $15 per night. The gym was clean, modern, and empty when I used it. The UTA Trax green line passes right in front on the entry making it very convenient. The Delta Center is just across the street and a block or so to the south. Very well located on the north east part of SLC, very close to everything. With a few tech updates, this place would be a standout. I’d happily stay here again.

I have always trust Hyatt for their cleanest rooms they have and also great value. After booking here it was really good the front desk was very helpful and there were able to help me out whatever my needs were. The hotel it self was in the convent location near the delta center which it’s walking distance. The view at night of the city downtown was great. Parking is charged $15 per night.

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times & it never disappoints! The staff is incredibly kind. This location is very walkable to all of downtown SLC and there are 2 UTA Rail stations nearby.

THE GOOD - The location is within a 10-minute walk of the Salt Palace. - Free breakfast that rotates every day. There are several different options for those with different preferences. What I had was pretty decent (breakfast burritos, waffles, eggs, sausage, oranges, etc.). - The water temperature and pressure were fantastic! - Staff was friendly. THE BAD - The window has a single-panel curtain, the kind that raises and lowers on a chain. It doesn't quite close the gap at the bottom, and light bleeds through on the side. I had to roll up towels and stuff the gap. There was also a slight breeze that came in at the spot (Feb. 2026). Adding traditional blackout curtains would fix the light issue. - The bed is pretty firm. If there is a pillowtop on the mattress, it has long lost its fluff. Sometimes you can sit on a bed and it feels soft, but when you lie down, it doesn't give as much. This bed didn't have that. It didn't affect how much sleep I got, but perhaps how comfortably I slept. - Street noise. The rail was right under my window, and with the Delta Center next door, there was quite the ruckus, especially between 9 and 11 pm. There were two events going on out of the three nights I stayed. I have long conditioned myself to sleep with a sound machine playing (phone app) and keep earplugs in my pocket.

Good value and comfortable, spacious home base, this place is absolutely worth considering. When you've been running around all day, nothing feels better than walking into a room that lets you truly breathe and spread out, and this one was wonderfully large. The bed itself was plush and comfortable—perfect for a deep, restorative sleep after a long travel day. ​Location-wise, it’s excellent. We loved being able to walk right over to The Gateway and having several great dining spots within an easy stroll. Convenience like that instantly elevates the whole experience. ​Now, for a couple of little honest notes: If you are particular about your pillows, you might want to bring your own, because the ones here were decidedly flat. And while the large room was lovely, the layout put the sink outside the main bathroom area, which felt a bit awkward and interrupted the flow. It’s functional, just something to be aware of! ​Overall, it's a solid, reliable choice for SLC.

I stayed one night going and one night coming back from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Aaron helped me book the second night when I found out I'd booked the wrong hotel on return. Wonderful! My second stay, after packing I realized I'd locked myself out, a young lady got me another key expeditiously. Everything was a fantasy stay! Everything!!!

Not a bad hotel overall. Good breakfast, nice and quiet, but definitely overpriced. Paying $15 just for parking was a bit surprising!
